Car Hire Mallorca Airport Guide
Mallorca Airport Location
Mallorca Airport is located around 8KM east of Palma city centre in the village of Can Pastilla. The airport is a fairly recent addition to the island, with the first terminal buildings only opening in 1958 at the start of the era of Mallorca as a popular tourist destination. The airport is close to the main tourist destinations on the south coast of the island such as Magaluf, and is also connected to the main motorway network to ensure that travel to the resorts on the north coast such as Acludia or Pollensa is straightforward. Every year the airport handles around 20 million passengers, and the terminal buildings have been extensively modernised over the last decade to make it as convenient as possible for travellers.

There is so much to see and do on Mallorca that visitors typically find that they are busy throughout their holiday. Most of the more popular resorts are located some way from the airport. Private transfers can cost several hundred pounds for a whole family, and in some cases this is more expensive than renting a car in Mallorca for the whole duration of your stay. Car Hire at Mallorca Airport The terminal building at Mallorca Airport is divided into 4 modules, however all 4 modules direct passengers into a single baggage reclaim area in the main terminal building, which is where the car hire desks are located. Car hire at Mallorca Airport is available from 8 different companies: Hertz, Goldcar, Europcar, Avis, Auriga Crown, National Atesa, Record and SixT. Having all of the desks together in the arrivals hall can mean that the area gets busy during peak times, so make sure you book your car hire in advance to save time when you get to Mallorca. Driving Directions to Mallorca Airport If you are staying in one of the south Mallorca resorts such as Portal Nous or Magaluf, or Palma de Mallorca itself, then getting to the airport is very straightforward. Simply follow the MA-20 ring road around the city centre, and then join the MA-19 motorway that takes you out to the airport. From the north of the island in resorts such as Pollensa, you would follow the MA-12 coastal road to Alcudia before joining the MA-13a road heading southwest towards Inca. This road joins the MA-20 Palma ring road at which point you would follow the signs for the MA-20 to the airport.
